Discover the splendour of Ravenna’s famous mosaics. Visits will include the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia displaying some of the finest examples of early Christian art, dating from the 5th century, and the Basilica di San Vitale, consecrated in 547 by Archbishop Maximian and adorned with colourful mosaics representing scenes from the Old Testament. Further exquisite mosaics, together with the sarcophagi of former Archbishops, can be seen in the 6th century church San Apollinare in Classe. You will also be able to view Theodoric’s tomb from the coach as well as enjoying some free time in the town.
