When it comes to exploring remote parts of the world on unforgettable cruises, Swan Hellenic has always believed that it should be something everyone can enjoy.
So if you, or a family member or friend has a mobility impairment, you can rest easy knowing we’ve got you covered.
Accessible Travel with Swan Hellenic
Swan Hellenic is committed to providing the best possible experience for guests with mobility needs aboard our boutique expedition ships. We recognize that every traveler has unique requirements, and the remote regions we visit sometimes call for thoughtful preparation.
That is why we strongly recommend contacting our Guest Accessibility team and submitting our Mobility & Medical Disclosure Form as early as possible — ideally at the time of booking or at least 45 days prior to departure. This advance notice allows us to review your requirements carefully and make the necessary arrangements for a smooth and enjoyable voyage.
Our voyages often explore remote regions, where conditions can vary. We believe in providing clear, honest guidance so you can make an informed decision and travel with confidence. Our goal is to support every guest in planning a rewarding journey while upholding the highest standards of safety and comfort. All guidance regarding accessibility and participation remains subject to the final judgment of the Ship’s Master, who assesses safety daily based on actual conditions.

Accessible Staterooms
Swan Hellenic offers a limited number of accessible staterooms to ensure both safe evacuation in an emergency and your comfort throughout the voyage. Guests who use wheelchairs can only be accommodated in these designated staterooms.
– SH Vega offers one accessible Oceanview Stateroom.
– SH Diana offers one accessible Oceanview Stateroom and one accessible Balcony Stateroom.
– SH Minerva offers one accessible Oceanview Stateroom.
Accessible Balcony Stateroom (SH Diana)
Measuring 31 m² / 334 ft² including the balcony, this stateroom features two single beds (or one double), a living area, and a private balcony. The accessible bathroom includes a roll-in shower, grab bars, lowered sink and vanity, higher toilet, and ramped thresholds. Wider doorways and thoughtful design support easier movement.
Accessible Oceanview Stateroom (SH Vega, SH Diana and SH Minerva)
These measure 24 m² / 258 ft² and include two single beds (or one double), a living area, and a fully accessible bathroom with the same thoughtful features: wider doors, roll-in shower, grab bars, lowered sink and vanity, higher toilet, and ramped thresholds.
Please note that these staterooms are in extremely high demand, so we recommend planning your journey in advance.
Useful Information Before Booking
– Guests who use wheelchairs should bring their own, as shipboard wheelchairs are reserved for emergencies only. Mobility aids must not exceed 65 cm in width for safe movement around the ship.
– All mobility or medical equipment must be declared before sailing and be suitable for safe transport and storage.
– Two elevators serve every passenger deck apart from the Stargazing top deck, which is more difficult to access, along with the Aft Marina and Swan’s Nest forward observation platform. We do not provide specialized equipment for the swimming pool, whirlpool, or sauna.
– Port and shore facilities vary widely, especially in remote destinations. Accessibility for excursions cannot always be guaranteed.
– Guests must be able to manage their essential daily needs independently — including dressing, eating, transferring between a wheelchair and a seat, standing where required, and attending safety drills. If you require assistance with these activities, we recommend traveling with a capable companion. This supports both your comfort and enjoyment throughout the voyage.
Zodiac Cruising and Shore Landings
Many of our most memorable experiences involve Zodiacs — for scenic cruising, wet landings, and shore exploration. Participation depends on daily conditions: sea state, weather, landing sites, and your individual mobility requirements. Transfers between the ship and Zodiac occur while both are in motion, which can be challenging.
Crew assistance is offered where safely possible, but it cannot be guaranteed, particularly for wheelchair transfers.
If you prefer to remain aboard during certain landings, the ship’s panoramic lounges, observation decks, and viewing areas offer wonderful opportunities to connect with the landscapes, wildlife, and seascapes around you.
