Day 1

Manila

Arrive in Manila today. The capital of the Philippines is a teeming, sprawling metropolis. Its flaws are no match for its creative, exciting energy, which infused everything from its art to food. There’s so much to see and do here: the city’s museums, Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church and the Chinese Cemetery are some of the highlights. Intramuros – the old Spanish walled town at the heart of the city – is unmissable. Explore if timings allow and be sure to sample some Filipino cuisine in all its bold sour, sweet and tangy glory. Alternatively, head straight to your home for the next several days. After a seamless check-in, settle into your cabin or stateroom and take time to explore your ship’s luxurious facilities

Marinduque Island, LayLay Port

Marinduque, a peaceful island in the heart of the Philippines, is known for rolling hills, pristine beaches, and vibrant traditions. Small fishing villages welcome visitors and preserve time-honored crafts and festivals, including the famous Moriones Festival. Surrounding waters host rich coral reefs and diverse marine life, ideal for snorkeling and diving. Then enjoy the fascinating Kalutang performance, in which local musicians create melodic rhythms using wooden instruments made from native trees, showcasing the island's indigenous musical heritage. Depart from LayLay Port for a once-in-a-lifetime cultural immersion in Marinduque, an island province often described as the heart of the Philippines and rich in natural beauty, tradition and warm hospitality. Your journey begins with a visit to the enchanting Butterfly Farm, where vibrant native species flutter among tropical blooms and you will learn about the delicate balance between nature and conservation. Explore centuries-old churches and heritage houses for a glimpse into the island's Spanish colonial past, and watch skilled artisans craft handmade souvenirs and Morion masks, linked to the province's world-famous Moriones Festival. Good to Know: This is a wet landing: be prepared to step into shallow water when getting on and off the Zodiac. The tour includes some walking on uneven ground. Cuatro Islas, Digyo Island

Tucked away in Western Leyte, the Cuatro Islas are a serene tropical escape, offering a distinct charm on each of the four islands. Apid, the most populated, offers a cultural touch with its fishing community and traditional mat weaving. Digyo is the smallest, known for its stunning sandbars and quiet beauty. Day 4

Bohol Island, Baclayon

After crossing the Bohol Sea, you arrive at tiny Balicasag Island, about six kilometres southwest of Panglao. The sea drops away into deep submarine cliffs. Soft and hard corals surround the reef, with multicoloured shoals moving through the water. Afterwards, head to Tagbilaran, a gateway to Bohol’s jungly interior. Tarsiers live here, nocturnal primates less than 16 cm tall with disproportionately large eyes. These adorable animals can be seen at the conservation centre and sanctuary. Bohol is also famous for the Chocolate Hills, a striking quirk of geology

Tarsier and Chocolate Hills

Visit a 100-hectare forest dedicated to the protection of the tarsier, a small nocturnal primate with big round eyes that feeds mainly on insects. The Philippine tarsier (Tarsius syrichta) measures just 10 to 12 cm (4 to 5 inches) and is one of the world's smallest primates, no bigger than an adult's hand and weighing only 113 to 142 grams (4 to 5 ounces). Enjoy a close encounter with the tarsiers in a one-hectare enclosure, accompanied by a trained ranger. Continue to the Chocolate Hills, a UNESCO Global Geosite with more than 1,776 hills spread over an area of 50 square kilometres. Enjoy the view from the visitor complex on top of one of the hills, which is accessible by vehicle, or climb the steps up to the viewing deck. Good to Know: To reach the viewing deck at the Chocolate Hills, guests will need to climb 214 steps; there are benches along the way. The steps are exposed to direct sun. The deck offers 360-degree views. Heat and humidity can be intense and may cause physical strain; please take this into consideration before booking. The visit to the Tarsier Sanctuary is conducted in small groups. Guests are required to remain silent for the whole visit to avoid disturbing the animals; flash photography is not permitted. The drive from the Chocolate Hills back to the port takes about 1 hour 20 minutes. What to Bring: Water, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, insect repellent and comfortable walking shoes.

Tagbilaran Heritage Tour

Begin with a walking tour of Plaza Rizal, where significant events in local history took place, and the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Worker, built by the Jesuits in 1595 and handed over to the Recollects in 1798. Although the structure has been renovated, the original silver pieces of its altar are well preserved and still in use. Next, visit the Tarsier Sanctuary, a 100-hectare forest dedicated to the protection of the Philippine tarsier (Tarsius syrichta), one of the world's smallest primates, no bigger than an adult's hand. Enjoy a close encounter with these nocturnal creatures in a one-hectare enclosure, accompanied by a trained ranger. Continue to Loboc to visit the Church of St. Peter the Apostle, also known as Loboc Church. Established in 1602, the present coral-stone structure was completed in 1734. Thanks to its strategic location, the church became the centre of Jesuit missionary activity in Bohol. It is recognised as both a National Historical Landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines. Severely damaged by the magnitude 7.2 earthquake of 15 October 2013, the church underwent extensive restoration from 2017 and reopened to the public on 16 May 2021. Enjoy lunch at a floating restaurant in Loboc. The last stop is the Chocolate Hills, an aspiring UNESCO Global Geosite with more than 1,776 hills spread over 50 square kilometres. Enjoy the view from the visitor complex or climb the steps up to the viewing deck. After the visit, re-board the coach for the drive back to Baclayon port and return to the ship by Zodiac. Good to Know: Modest attire is required to visit the churches: knees and shoulders must be covered. To reach the viewing deck at the Chocolate Hills, guests will need to climb 214 steps; there are benches along the way. The steps are exposed to direct sun. The deck offers 360-degree views. Heat and humidity can be intense and may cause physical strain; please take this into consideration before booking. The visit to the Tarsier Sanctuary is conducted in small groups. Guests are required to remain silent for the whole visit to avoid disturbing the animals; flash photography is not permitted. Casulian Island

Casulian Island (or Corregidor Island) lies off Siargao's southern coast. Rolling palm-covered hills lead to a summit with sweeping Pacific Ocean views. Pristine white-sand beaches and secluded turquoise coves ring the shoreline, while vibrant coral reefs thrive in the surrounding waters. Visitors flock here to hike the scenic hilltop trails and snorkel among the colourful marine life, making it one of Siargao's most sought-after destinations

Days at sea

Sea days are rarely dull. Take the time to sit back and let the world go by. The ship’s observation decks provide stunning views of the passing ocean. A day at sea gives you the opportunity to mingle with other passengers and share your experiences of this incredible trip or head to our library which is stocked full of reference books. Day 8

Sorong, Papua

The bustling port city of Sorong in West Papua is known as the gateway to the crystalline waters of Raja Ampat, the world's most biodiverse marine habitat, home to over 1,500 species of fish and 75 percent of the world's known coral species. In town, the Buddhist pagoda of Sapta Ratna stands tall on a hilltop overlooking the harbour. Local fishing boats come in with their catch at the bustling Pasar Jembutan Puri fish market

Diving in Kabui Bay (2 Tanks)

Mioskon (5 to 25 m) and Blue Magic (8 to 30 m) Starting up-current, you’ll drift toward the site’s spectacular southeastern point through clouds of Yellowtail and Blue-lined Snappers. Mioskon is famous for its 'carpet sharks,' so look closely beneath the overhangs for the camouflaged Tasselled Wobbegong. From the tiny, white Pontohi Pygmy Seahorse hiding on the reef to the sprawling gardens of hard and soft corals, every inch of this site celebrates the incredible marine diversity of Raja Ampat. Blue Magic is an underwater pinnacle that starts around 7 meters and goes down to less than 30 meters. On the top, you will find all sorts of different fish species and several cleaning stations, as you descend you find bigger schools of fish and the larger predator fish, sharks and manta rays in season are common sittings. What to expect: Tasselled Wobbegong sharks (hiding under ledges) and massive schools of Yellow-stripe Snappers. Pontohi Pygmy Seahorses (tiny and white) and various nudibranchs Oceanic Manta Rays (at cleaning stations), Grey Reef Sharks, and Blacktip Sharks. "Tornadoes" of Bigeye Trevally (Jacks) and Pickhandle Barracuda. Bargibanti Pygmy Seahorses on the sea fans. Mayhen ( 7 to 30 m) and Passage (7 to 20 m) Mayhem Reef is a vibrant sea-mountain dive where conditions determine which side you begin on, descending onto the top of the seamount before slowly circling your way upward. The sloping structure is rich with life, and divers are encouraged to check the gorgonian fans for pygmy seahorses while exploring the mid-levels. Marine activity here can be spectacular, with tuna, trevally, yellowtail fusiliers, and the occasional blacktip shark hunting in the blue. The site is especially famous for its wobbegong sharks, as well as cuttlefish and colourful nudibranchs hidden across the reef. Towards the end of the dive, take your time on the shallow top of the seamount, where even more surprises often await. Passage offers a true spectacle that must be seen to be believed. Reaching the narrowest point of only 20m, this is where ocean meets jungle. The water that flows through the channel is drawn in by the tides, bringing nutrients with it and allowing marine life to flourish in the area. The tree canopies and limestone cliffs above the water make it a really beautiful and unique dive. What to expect: Wobbegong sharks and the occasional Manta Ray or Eagle Ray. Incredible density of Fusiliers, Batfish, and Unicornfish that can block your view of the surface. Giant Trevally and Spanish Mackerel hunting the schools.

Day 8

Kabui Bay, Raja Ampat

Kabui Bay is one of Raja Ampat’s most scenic areas, shaped by a narrow waterway between the limestone islands of Gam and Waigeo known as The Passage. Cruise this natural corridor via Zodiac, following in the footsteps of naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, who travelled this route in 1860 and described its scenery as one of the most picturesque in the region. The mix of calm water, dramatic rock formations, and abundant marine life makes this area outstanding for snorkeling. Nearby, well-known dive sites such as Mioskon, Mayhem, and The Passage offer opportunities for those who want to explore deeper

Day 9

Pulau Penemu, Raja Ampat

Pulau Penemu is one of Raja Ampat’s most striking landscapes, with towering limestone pinnacles rising straight from the water. Piaynemo peak is the signature viewpoint here. A short hike takes you up to the top for wide views over lagoons and limestone islets. Just offshore, the Piaynemo Geosite is also one of the area’s best known snorkeling and diving zones, with dense coral diversity in the surrounding reefs and abundant fish life. Two dives are scheduled today, Melissa’s Garden, a coral rich plateau with three pinnacles and frequent macro life, and Batu Rufas, a drift along an island wall with swim throughs, fusilier schools, and regular turtle and shark sightings

Diving: Melissa’s Garden (7 to 30m) and Batu Rufas (5 to 30m) - 1 Trip 2 Dives

4 hours

Melissa’s Garden, named by Max Ammer after his daughter, it is truly an underwater garden. Three pinnacles sit atop a shallow plateau of glorious hard and soft corals. The slopping reef drops only to 20 meters where it bottoms out to sand. Divers will be able to spot many bright nudibranchs and anemone fish nesting. In deeper parts barracudas and sometimes manta rays. Also known for sightings of the tasselled Wobbegong shark. Batu Rufas, Big diversity of marine life as soon as you drop below the surface. You will see all kinds of fusilier fish in big schools as soon as you start your descent. Notice spotted garden and duck eels, cover below the sand as you approach the bend of the slope. Drift with the current along the island wall and observe the spectacular reef and underwater swim-through. This is common grounds for sea turtles, reef and wobbegong sharks as well as Moorish Idol and long-finned batfish. What else can be spotted: o Incredible health and variety of coral. o Whitetip Reef Sharks and Wobbegongs. o Schools of Anthias and Damselfish that look like "confetti" over the coral. o Leaf Scorpionfish and Ornate Ghost Pipefish. o colourful reef fish (Chromis and Anthias).

Diving: Keru Channel (3 to 45m) (1 Dive)

1 hour

Keru Channel is an exciting drift dive that takes you along a sloping wall on the right-hand side, where changing surface and mid-water currents create a dynamic and fast-moving descent. Divers should be prepared to drop quickly due to the stronger surface current and keep an eye on depth, as the wall reaches down to about 35 metres while the dive generally settles around 18 metres. Once you exit the main channel, you can shelter behind the reef to escape the flow and take your time exploring the vibrant marine life. The site offers a mix of action and detail, with nudibranchs, scorpionfish, and sweeping schools of fusiliers adding colour and movement throughout the dive. What else can be spotted: o Blacktip reef sharks are frequently seen o Green sea turtles are common inhabitants of the sloping sections o Sweetlips and Yellowback

Day 9

Pulau Fam, Raja Ampat

The Fam Islands form a small cluster of islets in the Raja Ampat Geopark, with Pulau Fam as the inhabited centre. Three villages sit near hidden lakes, one where crocodiles are known to live. The local community produces high quality virgin coconut oil, supporting both livelihoods and cultural traditions. Fascinating and seldom visited, this stop allows time to explore a cultural village, experience the warm hospitality of local communities, and see daily island life up close. Fam’s reefs are among the most pristine in the region, with rich coral gardens and marine life that can include reef sharks, ribbon eels, turtles, schooling fusiliers, and manta cleaning stations

Day 10

Pulau Mansuar, Raja Ampat

Pulau Mansuar is a long, narrow island crowned by a high limestone ridge and blanketed in dense tropical jungle. The surrounding reefs link Mansuar to neighboring Kri, and several small villages line the northern coast. In traditional palm-leaf-roof homes, just over a hundred residents live a measured, sea-and-forest rhythm of daily life. A walk across the island can take you to the salt lake Telaga Yenauiyau, a perfect place to enjoy a fresh coconut and listen to the jungle. Keep an eye out for the impressive coconut crab among the palms, and snorkelers will love the underwater world, where hundreds of colorful fish swirl above the corals. Those who wish can also go diving at Yenbuda Jetty

Diving: Cape Kri (5 to 40m)

Cape Kri offers excellent biomass, phenomenal activity and diversity with some interesting currents. It one of the best known sites in Raja Ampat due to the record-breaking 283 species (and growing) recorded in a single dive! Here the top of the reef offers shallow coral gardens interspersed with sandy patches. The drop off is a little further and gives way to a steady sloping reef offering a mixture of both soft and hard corals all the way to 40 meters. What to expect: o Giant Sweetlips (usually in a huddle), Napoleon Wrasse, and Hawksbill Turtles. o Barracuda, Snappers, and Surgeonfish in massive numbers. o Reef sharks are almost guaranteed here.

Diving: Manta Ridge ( 5 to 30) and Sawandarek Jetty (3 to 30m) - 1 Trip 2 Dives

Manta Ridge a shallow six-meter dive located in central Raja Ampat and is considered one of the most reliable sites in the marine protected area for manta ray encounters, where groups of 5 to 30 mantas gather at cleaning stations serviced by black-lip butterflyfish, with strong currents often requiring divers to hook in and observe these majestic animals drifting effortlessly above the reef. Sawandarek Jetty: a renowned dive site featuring a gently sloping reef along the bay, vibrant coral formations, and rich marine life, where batfish and fusiliers gather beneath the jetty, Napoleon wrasse often cruise past, and in deeper water divers may spot schools of yellow sweetlips and resting whitetip sharks on the sandy bottom, making it an unforgettable experience for all skill levels.

Day 10

Pulau Kri, Raja Ampat

Later, you head to Pulau Kri, one of Raja Ampat’s most important hubs of marine biodiversity. At Cape Kri, known for exceptionally high fish diversity, you’ll snorkel with the guidance of the expedition team. In these waters, you may encounter manta rays, sea turtles, mollusks, reef fish, and brilliant corals in every direction

Day 11

Pulau Misool, Balbulol Lagoon,Raja Ampat

One of the most remote islands in Raja Ampat, Pulau Misool captivates with its untouched nature. White-sand beaches, emerald hills, and labyrinths of karst limestone cliffs create truly cinematic scenery. The island is surrounded by some of the richest coral reefs on the planet and lies within the protected Misool Marine Reserve, celebrated for extraordinary biodiversity.  One of the region’s great natural treasures is the Yap Islands lagoon, hidden among towering karst formations. With turquoise water and a soft sandy bottom, it is an ideal spot for swimming and snorkeling. You can also swim in Lake Lenmakana among rare freshwater jellyfish that have no stinging tentacles, and explore reefs and limestone shorelines where manta rays, reef sharks, vivid mollusks, shrimp, and a wide variety of tropical fish are often seen.   Nearby lies Balbulol Lagoon, home to the famous heart-shaped “Love Lake,” a hidden gem set among the dramatic karst formations of Misool. The surrounding landscape is defined by towering limestone spires rising directly from the turquoise sea, creating a maze of narrow passages and peaceful, sheltered coves

Sorong, Papua

Arrive in Sorong in the early morning for disembarkation, with the reefs and islands of Raja Ampat still fresh in mind. Take a last look at the water and the jungle edged coastline as you step ashore, then continue onward with the sense of having reached one of the most biodiverse corners of the planet

Originally from Germany, his career has taken him the world over, from luxury resorts across Europe and the Caribbean to the wilds of Antarctica and many more in between. His unique skillset has since led him to life as an experienced, passionate and knowledgeable cruise expedition guide

Originally from Germany, Julia moved to the Caribbean 26 years ago, beginning a lifelong adventure shaped by different cultures, nature and travel. With a background in hospitality and tourism, she spent 23 years in the industry, progressing to General Hotel Manager and Resort Manager before joining Swan Hellenic as a Guide and later Assistant Expedition Leader. A certified Rescue Diver with 30 years of diving experience, Julia is passionate about marine life and conservation. Based in Bonaire, she also works as a local tour guide and volunteers to protect turtles and flamingos and keep the island clean.

As a biologist and science writer, she has observed wildlife around the world, working with renowned organizations such as the Smithsonian and NIH. Passionate about engaging storytelling, Mara loves inspiring others to appreciate and protect the natural world through her curiosity and enthusiasm.

Benn Berkeley

Benn is a British-born filmmaker who currently resides in Cornwall in the UK. Benn left home at a young age, keen to explore the world, and has been chasing the thrill of adventure ever since. He worked as a mountain guide for several years before retraining as a specialist rope access technician for oil rigs in the Middle East. His travels inspired his passion for capturing the moment - Benn has filmed for the likes of BBC Earth, Springwatch, and multiple well-known travel and tourism organisations.

Dannii Creagh

Senior Guide & Marine Biologist

Dannii grew up alongside the Great Barrier Reef, developing a lifelong passion for marine life and conservation. She earned a Bachelor of Marine Science at James Cook University, contributing to turtle rehabilitation and fish tagging programs. As an expedition guide and naturalist, she has worked across Australia, the South Pacific, and Southeast Asia. Dannii brings warmth, expertise, and enthusiasm to Zodiac cruises, beach walks, and lectures, helping guests connect with the ecosystems they explore

Javier Cotin

Senior Guide Ornithologist

Javier's love for birds and nature has taken him to some of the world's most remote comers. From studying Eleonora's Falcons in the Mediterranean to exploring seabird habitats in Tasmania, he's dedicated his career to understanding and protecting wildlife. With a PhD from the University of Barcelona, Javier's research focuses on how human activity affects bird populations. Now, based in the Pyrenees, his passion for birding and adventure never faces Javier's tales from his ornithology research in faraway lands are as thrilling as they are interesting, and he Can't wait to share them with curious Swan Hellenic guests!

After graduating from the Russian State University of Sport in Moscow, Viacheslav spent 15 years travelling around the world. He's worked as photographer, writer, guide and translator, and has explored everywhere from Russia, Europe, Asia, and Africa, to North America, South America, Australia, and the polar regions. Viacheslav has spent four full seasons working as a guide in the Arctic and Antarctic, and also runs onboard sports programs
