Kayaking in the polar regions offers a truly unique way to experience the world’s last great wildernesses. From water level, you’ll immerse yourself in the silence, beauty, and grandeur of these remote landscapes, far removed from artificial sounds and distractions. Gliding at the rhythm of your paddle, you’ll have the rare opportunity to witness towering ice formations, dramatic coastlines, and extraordinary polar wildlife from an entirely new perspective. Many guests describe this as a deeply spiritual experience—one that few have encountered before you. Your Expedition Leader and Kayak Guide will always ensure that conditions are suitable and that safety is the top priority. A Zodiac safety boat will accompany the group throughout the excursion, providing assistance if required. Most kayak excursions focus on exploring the polar environment from the water; some may also include opportunities to land ashore and discover the area on foot. Typically, guests are first shuttled by Zodiac to the starting point, transfer into their kayak, and at the end of the excursion, return to the ship via Zodiac. Important Information: To ensure all guests have the chance to experience kayaking, each guest may pre-book one kayak excursion per cruise. Additional excursions can be requested on board and will be offered if availability allows. Kayaks accommodate two guests. If you would like to share with a specific companion, please inform the onboard team. Solo travelers will be paired with another guest.
